Getting Married in Fiji

Registration
All couples need to register their intent to marry with the Registry Office in Nadi. The registry office is open from 9.00am - 3.00pm Monday to Friday (closed on public holidays). It takes about 30 minutes to complete the formalities. Couples should allow a day on the mainland prior to traveling to a resort away from Nadi to complete this process.

The resort wedding coordinator will try to organize an appointment for the bride and groom in the Nadi Registry office on the first or second day of arrival in Fiji. This will allow for the completion of the Fijian Registry requirements before coming to the resort for the marriage service.

Documentation
The bride and groom must bring the following items to allow a smooth process of registering their intent to marry in Fiji.

· Certified or original copy of their Birth certificate,
· current passport, and
· if previously married a copy of the divorce papers.

*Please note that a copy of these documents must be sent to the wedding coordinator of the resort where the wedding is to be held a minimum of 3 weeks prior to the wedding so the coordinator can forward them to the Registry office for processing. The couple must bring the originals with them.

It is important to note the bride and groom will need an original or certified copy of their respective birth certificates, their passports and if previously divorced, a copy of their divorce papers.
