The Xpu-ha Palace (pronounced
"ish-pu-ha")
is an eco-friendly resort located in the Riviera Maya,
within wild tropical gardens and overlooking a spectacular
white sandy beach.
The resort features Mayan style architecture with open
air public areas (lobby, reception desk, gym, beauty
salon, etc.) In the lobby, you hear Mayan music softly
playing while there is a party atmosphere at main beach
area, perhaps with a DJ spinning disks. The resort has
3 restaurants, non-motorized watersports, a variety
of amenities and activities for the spirited guest including
scuba diving (extra cost). The resort maintains an eco-park
environment for travelers who want a laid back natural
experience; it is not for those who want to party or
want glitzy nightlife.
The resort is a sprawling collection
of "villages"
laid out around natural and man-made features, including
an estuary
(good for kayaking and learning to scuba dive), an inlet
(good for snorkeling), two pools,
and a beach.
Bicycles are available for guests to ride (finding and
keeping "your bike" is a game for many guests).
There is also an electric tram that circulates the resort
from 7a to 11p, making stops every 20-25 minutes. Guests
should expect to do quite a bit of walking.

Categories and Descriptions
Xpu-Ha Palace Resort has 464
air-conditioned rooms in two-storey bungalow style buildings.
There is only one room category: deluxe. Rooms differ
only by where they are on the resort, whether they are
an upstairs or down, and whether they have one king
bed or two double beds. All rooms feature a double Jacuzzi,
private balcony, mini bar restocked every 2 days, and
ceiling fan. Rooms also have a large deck or balcony
with two chaises and small table and a hammock (extra
hammock may be requested). Handicap-accessible rooms
are available in buildings near the lobby. Most rooms
are oceannview.
Room amenities
include large private balcony, in-room safe, smoke detectors,
individually controlled air conditioning, satellite
TV with remote control, hair dryers, purified water,
mini-bars containing sodas, bottled water, beer and
double jacuzzis in every room.

Golf
The Golf Club at Playacar is
open 365 days a year from 6:30am until dark. Tee time
reservations may be made up to 30 days in advance. Golf
packages are available. For 2004-05, golf packages include:

the Gold Club at Moon Palace or the Golf Club at Playacar
- Transportation to and from
the course
- Beverages and snacks at the
course

PACKAGE INCLUSIONS ARE SUBJECT

Guests will be required to arrange
round trip transportation to the golf course and pick
up their golf vouchers at least 1 day prior to their
tee-time reservation at the Chaza Travel hospitality
desk, located in the lobby. Guests will not be allowed
to play without a Golf Voucher.
Tee-times must be cancelled at least 48 hours in advance
to avoid a $20.00 USD no-show fee. Fee will be charged
as an incidental charge to the guest's hotel bill.
Special
Activities at Xpu-Ha Palace Resort
ECOLOGICAL TOURS
Led by an Ecologist guide, 2 different types of ecological
tours are offered: a daytime tour; made up of a 45 minute
walk through the serpentarium, aviary, turtle and crocodile
areas and deer preserve; an evening tour consisting
of nature walks through the mangroves, astronomy workshops
with use of telescopoes which locate and describe constellations,
their names and their Mayan origins and mythology.
BOTANICAL WORKSHOPS
Featuring growth adn cultivation of plants and herbs,
identification of local endangered plant life, along
with
lessons in planting techniques and horticulture.
Also available, lessons in Mayan Medicine with demonstrationsof
how local plant life is used in preparation of Mayan
remedies and their uses for treatment of common illnesses.
THE FOLLOWING PROGRAMS WILL BE LIMITED TO A MAXIMUM
OF 10 GUESTS PER HOUR.
JUNGLE TOUR
This will be a walking tour of the botanical gardens,
natrue trails and will end with a short snorkel tour
in the Estuary.
MANGROVE TOUR
This is an aquatic tour to be guided in kayaks through
the Estuary where guests can appreciate 3 different
types of
mangrove species and various species of aquatic birds
native to the area.
ANIMAL RESCUE AND TREATMENT PROGRAM
This activity will be led by a trained ecologist within
the bio-technical and clinical facilities where guests
can observe the treatment of local fauna native to the
Xpu-ha property along with other rescued and adopted
animals from the Quintana Roo area, which include Sea
Turtles, crocodiles, native birds and many other types
of animals. There will also be workshops available where
guests can interact directly with some of the animals.

It isn't for everyone, but if you'd like a relaxing
tropical vacation at a resort with a very casual atmosphere--
no need to dress fancy for dinner-- then Xpu-ha Palace
may be just the resort for you.
